I made a Fast and Fabulous page and You Can Too!

All you really need is one great photo.

This page came together so quickly because it started with a hilarious picture of my sister and Ben. I know not every photo is going to be "the best" but sometimes, I'm lucky. Sometimes, I have a photo that is strong enough to carry a layout all by its self and it doesn't need fancy embellishing or techniques. It's wonderful all on its own. And the good news is, we all have photos like that in our stash. And, it turns out, these are the photos that make for fast scrapbooking.



I paired my photo with that lovely patterned paper from Echo Park's All About a Boy collection. Then I cut the title using the Pacifico font and my Silhouette Cameo. You can download it for FREE here. I cut each word twice - once with white cardstock and again with a pattern paper. Then I offset them and stuck them down.



Finally, I added some Studio Calico wood veneer stars. I like to get a pinch of stars and then drop them on the page. If I don't like how they look, I pick them up and try again. When I'm happy, I glue them down with Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Multi-Medium in the 1/2 oz bottles. These little bottles are perfect for sticking down any kind of wood veneer. If you don't have a bottle, you need one.



I could have added more layers and embellishments and techniques but why? I didn't want to overwhelm my photo and I really didn't have a lot of time.  I'm definitely not a fast scrapper so not many of my pages come together this quickly but it sure helps to have a great photo to get the process started.

I made a page without blue!

Check it out, my friends! A whole layout without the color blue anywhere.



Well, there is some blue in the picture but I didn't use any blue supplies. Not a single one. I think it's a record. It's definitely odd.

And yet it feels like me, don't you think? There's some Studio Calico Fab Rips from last year, some AC Thickers, and SC wood veneer cameras and stars, of course. A page just isn't a page without some SC wood veneer stars!

The Undones: Fall Retreat Pages

Oh, yes. I have pages from The Paperie's Fall Retreat in November that aren't quite done. You see, I scrap in stages and one of the last stages for me is journaling. I find it really hard to journal when I'm distracted with lots of friends and conversation and laughter so I save it until I get home. And by "save" I mean "put in a container and forget about it". Well, that container is now full of Undone layouts so it's time to dig some out, finish them off and share them with you.

This first layout was all done except for the jouranling.



And here's a closeup. I love those washi layers - I must try that again!



This one needed some journaling on the tag behind the photo, some SC wood veneer stars and the twine across the bottom. It really didn't take very long to finish I just had to take the time.



Here's a closeup of the background I made using the Luminarte Silks, the Balzer Designs 6x6 Circle Explosion stencil and the Studio Calico Mister Huey Clay.



And here's another one that needed some journaling.



And the last one for today. This layout needed some journaling and I added some wood veneer stars too. Just because.



Now, I could just keep filling up containers until I have so many Undone layouts I could never hope to finish them but I have a one container rule. That means I can have one container for my Undone layouts and another one (and only one) for layouts that need to be put in a scrapbook. And I'm pretty strict about it because I don't have a lot of space. I'd rather use that space for storing supplies than layouts and undone projects.

It took me about 30 mins to finish off these layouts.  I think that's a pretty good use of my time, don't you? Now it's your turn.  Go dig out some of your Undones and take a few minutes to finish them off. I think you'll be surprised by how little time you need to finish some them off.

Beguiling Eyes...

My darling husband has the most beautiful brown eyes.



So, imagine my surprise when both of my boys ended up with beautiful blue eyes. Obviously, I have some photos that just make my heart flip over. And those pictures, end up on pages like this...



This was a really simple page because I did not want to overwhelm those eyes. (Aren't they dreamy?) I used a little washi tape, some AC Thickers, some October Afternoon Mini Market stickers and those fabulous Studio Calico wood veneer stars.  For the background, I punched a few hearts with my favorite heart punch by EK Success. I love that punch and use it on almost every page - I kid you not.  Then I scattered the hearts across the black cardstock and misted with Studio Calico Shine - easy peasy.

The title is from a Stephen Fearing song (of the same name).  It's one of our favorites and it popped into my head when I sat to scrap this pic.  It's funny when that happens, don't you think?

Sorry, September. I'm still not ready.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about not being ready for summer to be over and I'm still not ready.

I love the fall but this year I'm sad to see summer go.

I'll miss the family visitors...



...the birthday parties...



...and spending lazy summer afternoons with the kids.




Summer, you were awesome. Come back anytime.
