The Paperie July Kit Reveal: FTW

Hello friends!

It's kit reveal day at The Paperie which means you can head on in and pick up July's fabulous kit. I think this is my absolute favorite Paperie kit ever. I can't think of another that I enjoyed more. It has flair from Evalicious, element stickers from Studio Calico, Thickers, washi tape and wonderful wire butterflies from Prima.  And the paper? Well, it's wonderful too.

I think my favorite is this sheet, called Super Hero, from Echo Park's All About A Boy collection.

I know. Awesome, right? And I knew just how to use it.

First I cut the sheet apart. I wanted to give the section under the photo some dimension so I popped it up on a lot of pop dots. Then I stuck the whole thing down on some orange cardstock from my stash.



Then, I grabbed one of an old Manga comic book from my stash. I picked a couple of these up last year and use them from time to time in my art journaling. A few sheets from one of the books was perfect for this page - you'll see what I mean when you see the photo I chose.

I layered pieces some under the photo.



And cut things out to collage over the photo.



Then some stickers, flair and journaling...



And a final page that look like this...



The title, FTW, means "For the Win". It seemed kind of perfect for this page about my crazy brothers playing with baby Gabriel. He's about 5 months old in this pic. I was hanging onto this pic for just the right inspiration. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

January Kit Club Pages (part 2)

Hi Friends!

As promised, I'm back again with some more pages I made using The Paperie's January kit.

This photo just had to be scrapped. It's a pic of Gabriel and he's about 2 1/2 years old. I love it and I also love that Poe in the background.  She used to love the snow.



It's a very simple page with a lot of layers around the photo. Yesterday, I talked about the My Little Yellow Bicycle Paper Crafting Kit from their Wintering collection. I was determined to use all pieces in the pack and you can see a lot of them on this page. I also added stickers from the Fancy Pants Sticker Fundamentals sheet and the American Crafts glitter buttons from the kit to add variety and fill in any empty spaces.

And here's another page that uses more of that Paper Crafting Pack. (Told you I was determined to use it up.) This is another picture I had to scrap - Ben is about 2 days old and Gabriel is 3 1/2. This is just before we took Ben home from the hospital.




Almost everything comes from the kit except the Studio Calico wood veneer stars. I am seriously addicted to them and they were perfect for this page.


Now onto one of my favorite pages...



How cute is that picture? That was a great day for taking pictures. I got this pic, the one in the Help Help Help layout I shared yesterday and this one of Mac.

My favorite part of this page, aside from the picture, was trying something new. Do you see the stars above the picture? Well, here's what they look like up close.



Awesome, right? I used the Dylusions 5x8" Starry Starry Night stencil to put Rock Candy Distress Stickles on my page. The Stickles came with the kit so you can try this too. Use any stencil you like and layer up the Rock Candy Distress Stickles. I'm definitely doing this again - maybe with the Dylusions Let it Snow stencil.

And I also wanted to show you how I turned one of the Studio Calico wood veneer trees into an arrow. I just snipped off the trunk et voila!



I tell ya, those wood veneers from Studio Calico are pretty sweet!

And finally, here's my mixed media page.



This one was inspired by Dina Wakley.  The color palette and silhouette star remind me of her style. This page has lots of layers: multi-medium, molding paste, spray inks, gesso, stamping, paint splatters, doodling, wood veneer alphas, hidden journaling and picture.  Adding layers is a great way to build a page - you just keep adding products and techniques until you're happy with your page.  I love trying new things. It's so much fun!

Design Team projects...Day 2

hey, hey!

Here are a couple more of the pages I made for this month's Paperie's kit club, Star Bright. 

First up,



I was inspired to make the Polaroid frames by Krista and a demo she did at the Retreat with her  2" punch. A lot of my childhood pictures are Polaroids so I wanted to try this out.  I used a bunch of wallet photos I had left over from my Week in the Life project but just wasn't finished scrapping.

I'm particularly proud of the pinwheels though because I made them using washi tape and the 2" squares I punched out to make the Polaroid frames. I just couldn't throw all those little squares away so I covered them with hearts and clouds washi from my stash on one side and the red stripe washi that comes in the Star Bright kit.

Next up, 



This page came together pretty easily.  Probably because I love that picture - it is so typically Sam.  This is also from my Week in the Life. I printed this one a bunch of different sizes because I knew I was going to use it more than once - this is a 5 x 7.  The text is from the Jillibean Soup journaling block I cut up.  Finally, I used the ampersand stamp from Hero Arts, SC Mister Hueys in Dark Calico and White Calico, and the Jillibean alpha.  I'm thinking about using this in our kitchen when I get it back.

another manic Monday...

I don't know about you but I am not a Monday morning person.  I guess it's the transition from weekend to weekday.  However, I have a big coffee so I will make it through.  No worries.

The Paperie's kit for May, Star Bright, went live over the weekend and it is not one to miss.  There's Studio Calico and My Mind's Eye papers, a roll of washi tape, 4 alphas, the cutest buttons and more.

I love buttons but because I rarely use them I try to not buy too many.  But when I found these teal sparkly buttons in my kit I knew just what to do with them...



From my own stash, I used some Studio Calico Mister Huey White and the new Dylusions spray ink, Vibrant Turquoise.  This layout came together so easily. I love it when that happens, don't you?

Now, here's a layout that took forever to get right. I must have tried at least 8 different ways to get to this point.  It was very frustrating but I stuck it out for about 2 hours (no joke).  Thank goodness washi tape is so forgiving because I moved it all around the page and it didn't damage anything and it didn't leave any sticky residue either.

The hearts and cloud washi tape is from my stash and I used a little sprinkle of Mister Huey Clay but everything is else can found in the kit.



Here's my last one for today. It's pretty simple but that gorgeous Jillibean Soup paper makes it something special. Except for the washi tape this is pretty much all Jillibean Soup because you get one of their element sheets in the kit this month. I love those.  Makes it so easy to layer up your layout.

Sneakity sneak...Star Bright Paperie May Kit Club

Hey all,

I had a blast with The Paperie's kit again this month.  There's always something in there that I would never have picked for myself but end up loving.  This month, it's the red stripe washi tape. I used that red tape on so much this month I have to pick up some other stripey colors.

On to the sneaks...

...and the Jillibean soup note cards.  Krista used the card to make this project but I cut my apart.



I used mixed media techniques to get this page and more of the red stripe washi. Did I mention I love that tape?




Did you notice that there are 4 different alphas in this kit? Awesome.

If you're heading to the store to pick up your kit, why not wait until tomorrow? The Paperie is throwing a birthday party (aka big sale) and bake sale on Saturday.
