My 2015 Creative Goals

I've been thinking about what I want to do this year and I've decided to set some creative goals. Some of these goals are about scrapbooking and art journaling, some are not. Here's what I have.

1. Get all my finished scrapbook pages into albums. I admit it. I let my pages pile up. Unfortunately, no one is able to see or enjoy my pages sitting in a pile. So, the solution is to actually buy one scrapbook album a month and fill it up with pages.

2. Make one new art journal page a week. I can make as many pages as I want but I want to make at least one page a week. I also want to slow down and take my time with some of my pages.

3. Make one scrapbook page a week. I'm a scrapbooker and I love making pages. I think 52 pages in a year is enough but not too much. Only finished pages count and I have to put all these new pages in albums, of course!

4. Finish my 2014 projects. I still have to finish my 2014 Week in the Life, December Daily and Keeping Track of Life album.  Due to poor planning on my part, I didn't have the supplies I needed to finish the December Daily and Week in the Life projects. I have to take a little time and re-work these projects and finish them up. No big. My LSS, The Paperie is having a Spring Retreat in April. I'm planning to finish these projects at the Retreat if I don't get them done before.

5. Paint 4 canvases.  I want to try something new this year so I've decided to try a few canvases. My first canvas is already started. Check it out!

6. A sketch/doodle a day. This has been on my list for years and I've decided to stop procrastinating and just do it. I started in January and share pics on my Instagram feed. If you're curious, you can see them there. My Instagram handle is cathiereed.

7. Finish reading 141 books by my birthday. I love reading. I always have. This is a way to make sure that I keep reading a part of my life.

8. Cook one new recipe a week. Cooking has become something I dread. In my family, we have a picky eater Gabe), a pretend-picky eater (Ben who is only picky because of his big brother), an allergy to wheat (me), and a foodie (Sam). Making everyone happy at meal time is impossible but maybe by trying new things, it will be more interesting and not such a chore.

9. Knit an awesome pair of socks. I have been knitting for years but I haven't made anything besides blankets, scarves and a few baby hats and booties. I'm ready to try something new. I have the wool, new needles and a pattern - time to cast on!

10. Knit a sweater. Same as above. This is really going to be a stretch. I'm nervous but I'm pushing myself. As an added incentive my niece, Kiersten, is a big fan of my knitting and has asked me to knit her a sweater. How could I say no to this sweet little girl?

11. Master the cheesecake. I can't eat wheat and that makes desserts problematic. I love cheesecake (who doesn't?) and it's basically gluten-free without any fancy or hard-to-come-by ingredients. I've decided that this is going to be my go-to dessert this year. I want to become a Master Cheesecake Baker.

So, those are my creative goals. You can probably see how some of my goals overlap and that's on purpose. For example, I could doodle everyday for a week and that could also be my art journal page for that week. Or trying a new cheesecake recipe could be my new recipe for that week. This is all part of making these goals possible.  Going forward, I'm going to break these down on a month-by-month basis so it's not so overwhelming.

I'm going to set up some new Pinterest boards so I can keep track or (and share my progress). I'll let you know when they're ready.
