Art Journal Calendar: February

So, it's February 1st and that means it's time to share the next page of my mixed media inspired calendar. Each month, I make a page using my mixed media products and techniques and hang it on the wall in my kitchen. I want to see how my style changes over the year and I want share my art with my family.

So, here's February's page...

Art Journal Calendar_February

This page started as a mop-up page. There was a bit of orange and some pink when I started.  I love the bright colors of the Dylusions spray inks. I use them a lot. On this page, I used Bubblegum Pink, Squeezed Orange and Crushed Grape.

Here's a closeup. You can see the Chequered Dot and Dotted Flower stencils from the Dylusions line.  I really love Dotted Flowers. I seem to use it every chance I get these days!

And here's another favorite stencil: Dina Wakley's Spilled Hearts. Have to use hearts for February, right?

This page was about experimenting with new color palettes or at least not always using blue! It's something I'm working on right now. I find it's easier to try new color combinations when I use my favorite stencils. That way not everything is new. And you know what? I love how bright this page is. Here's to trying new things!

I hope you have a wonderfully creative weekend!

Cathie

ps: Here's a link to the page I made for January.

  1. What a great idea for a calendar/art. Perhaps you could make it into one for 2014 & send them to family & friends as a gift at the end of this year? It would make such a personal gift!

I like the Dylusion's sprays too, like you say they are just popping colours! Your piece is lovely, I especially like the grey lettering against all that yummy brightness.

    1. Thanks for your lovely comment. I have thought about scanning my calendar and using it for gifts at Christmas but it all depends on how the pages turn out. : )
