I love my gelli plate by Gelli Arts. I've used it to make pages like this...
and alter book paper like this...
I've even thrown a Project Life card or two on my gelli plate - just for fun.
Which leads to a pile of gelli plate prints that looks like this...
It seems that it's easier to make gelli plate prints than it is to use them - at least for me.
So, I have a new art journaling project. I'm challenging myself to use my prints in my art journaling, in my home decor and beyond. I hope you'll help by sharing ideas and keeping me accountable.
This month, I'm framing and displaying one of my favorite prints.
I just love it and I can hardly wait to hang it in my home. I don't know why I haven't done it sooner.
So, "What do you do with your gelli plate prints?" Do you bind them in books? Frame them and hang them? Use them in collage? Use them in scrapbooks? Throw them out? *gasp* Please share your favorite ideas in the comments. I would love some extra inspiration.
Have a great weekend!
Cathie
That's the trouble when you are addicted to creating gelli papers - you have so many of them. I ue them for backgrounds for most of my ATC cards and journal pages.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Gelli prints are excellent backgrounds.
DeleteLove your pages by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Beverley!
DeleteI think it's a common problem - what to do with the things we've made - I love the prints and they definitely stand on their own as art pieces in itself. Remember that artists have made abstracts for years - these don't have to be used as 'just' backgrounds
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, Lin. I do love abstract art so I'm going to frame a few of my favorite pieces.
DeleteI love your gelli prints, particularly the first one. I made my own gelli plate but am still learning how to make the most of it. Zsuzsa Karoly-Smith has made gelli paper beads. Have a look at her blog:

Thanks, Susan and thanks for the link about the gelli paper beads. That's a great idea.
DeleteThey look great! I sometimes bind mine together to make a journal. Or alternatively, make a simple journal and gelli-print directly into it. They make great cards, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracy. That's another 2 ideas for the list. I've been thinking about binding my own journals but haven't tried it yet. I think cards and journals would be a fun way to use and share my art.
DeleteAll of the above. An I have thousands. I also make Books and accordion books to display related prints. Mostly they go into journals. I have at least 20 journals, all generally on different topics
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vicki. I like the idea of making a book of my favorite prints. I can't put them all on the wall...or can I? ;)
