Currently, I have two backgrounds sitting on my desk.
Here's the first one.
This page started with the circle off-cuts you can see below.
Then I added some modeling paste through a Donna Downey stencil - Alphabet Rerun - and when that was dry, I started painting...
and I kept right on painting until I reached this point.
I quite like how this one looks but I'm just not sure if it's done. I guess that means it needs something else. The question I keep asking myself is "what"? For now, I am content to let this page sit as it is while I wait for inspiration to strike.
Here is a look at the second page.
I started this one by adhering the mesh that I cut from a bag of potatoes directly to my page. I used modeling paste to stick it down. Then I added modeling paste through the same Donna Downey stencil - Alphabet Rerun - and coated the whole thing in gesso.
Then many layers of paint.
I love all the texture on this page but once again it doesn't feel done to me. It's definitely missing something to tie it all together - to give it meaning. If that makes sense. At least I had fun making it and I definitely need to get some more of the potato bag mesh - that stuff is amazing for creating texture.
So, that's what is on my desk right now. I'm going to keep these pages close and see if I can figure out what to do next. And when I do, I'll be sure to share them here. In the meantime, do you have any suggestions for what you do if you're stuck with a page?
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow! I'm especially fond of the first page as it features colors that make my heart sing. And the texture! Swoon! The second one has a very different feeling. It feels more steam punky. The potato bag texture is amazing. Love them both!
