Christmas Card Calamity

Yeah, "calamity" is a good word to describe my attempt to make 60 Christmas cards in one week. It didn't go quite as well as I had hoped. I made 15 cards made which is ok but I need some more.  Here's what I have so far...

The house and sentiment are from the Hero Arts Sending Holiday Cheer set. I colored it with my Inktense Watercolor Pencils. They are wonderful. I know I'm going to use them lots! And the tree is from an old Hero Arts set. I don't think it's available anymore. I stamped it with Jenni Bowlin for Ranger Seed Packet green paint.

To be honest, my heart just isn't' into "making" the cards this year but I'm going to keep plugging along. I do like sending cards, I'm just not sure I like making them. Maybe it's time to think about buying some. Maybe.

Anyway, this all started because I'm trying to use up some old Christmas supplies. This week, my plan is to make a couple of garlands to decorate the beams in my living room and kitchen.

Beams for Garlands

Yeah, I'm nuts. I know. I'll let you know how it goes next week.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Lovely cards Cathie. I understand the sentiment ... I love sending them, but finding the time to make 50+ mid-holiday season is a bit much for my blood now that I have a toddler. And yes, I suppose I could get on it in August, but I'm not quite that organized. My solution for the past couple of years is making a digital card (or using a nice digi pre-made template) a, printing 50 or so, and signing a message to the back. Add washi tape to the envelope and done and done. So it's personal (for us and the recipient) and quick! Becky Higgins has some lovely free templates too :)

    1. Thanks for the tip, Colleen. I'll definitely look into those templates. It might be the way to go next year - if I can get my act together. :D

  2. 60 cards in one week would be something to be boastful about. No way I could do it. Good luck! These are wonderful and festive! Love the tape strip.

    1. Thanks, Anita. So far I like what I've made even if I don't have enough of them.

FYI, the strip is actually a stamped sentiment on book paper that I cut to look a banner. Easy peasy!
