Art Journal Everyday: Scribbling with Dina Wakley

At the end of August, I finally bought  21 Secrets: an Art Journal Playground. It's a self-paced series of online classes with some of my favorite art journalers - Dina Wakley being one of them.

I have long been one of Dina's fans. I think I discovered her though Tim Holtz's design team. (Remember his awesome design team?) Anyway, Tim disbanded his team but I continued to follow Dina's blog. Her work is wonderful and very inspiring. And then I learned that she was teaching art journaling classes through Get it Scrapped. They looked great but even though I wanted to I never got around to taking a class before they closed the teaching side of their website - bummer. So, when I saw that Dina was one of the contributors to 21 Secrets I was determined to not miss out. I signed up  and finally I got to take a Dina Wakley class, Intuitive Painted Layers.

Here's what I made...

This is so very far away from my usual style but I love to look at this page. I can't believe I made it!

The class was wonderful and I learned so much. Dina is a wonderful teacher and her videos are excellent. She walked us through each step from beginning to end of this page.  So, imagine my absolute delight when I discovered that Dina has opened an online shop with her own classes. They are all on my wishlist and I have promised myself that I'm not going to miss out this time around.  I  promise to let you know how it goes.

As for 21 Secrets, it is wonderful.  Registration is closed for this year but according to the website it will be back next year. Every year, there are 21 instructors teaching a class each and it's related to art journaling. I am about 1/2 way through the 2012 lessons and they have all been wonderful. I highly recommend it and plan to register again next year.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Which reminds me...it's a long weekend here in Canada. We're celebrating Thanksgiving so I'm taking Monday to enjoy some turkey-time with the family. I'll be back to regular blogging on Tuesday.

    1. Thanks, Danielle. I had no idea I could make a page like this. Learning new things and growing creatively is one of the reasons I love taking classes.
